KARE is a fully insured workers' compensation program endorsed by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the largest multi-industry business association in Kentucky. KARE is underwritten in conjunction with the ACE-USA Group of Insurance Companies.

Because KARE is a Kentucky-focused workers' compensation insurance program, our underwriting office is located in Louisville, Kentucky. Our underwriting staff is available to make agency calls by appointment to discuss and review your book of workers' compensation business in order to generate a competitive quote.

bulletWhat types of businesses are excluded by KARE?

While KARE underwrites each risk on a case-by-case basis, several classes of risk are generally excluded. These include asbestos removal, armed guards, bars, chemical manufacturing, underground mining, and 24-hour risks open to the public.

bulletWhat is the minimum premium requirement?

The minimum premium requirement for most KARE accounts is $2,500 in annualized premium without a special underwriting exception. Your KARE underwriter will work with you on proposed accounts not reaching this threshold.

KARE offers a variety of interest-free installment plans. Your KARE underwriter will work with you to identify the program that best meets your client's needs.

bulletDoes KARE offer coverage in other states?

Yes, KARE currently writes accounts in 32 other states for its Kentucky-based customers. Other states coverage is not available in the monopolistic states of North Dakota, Ohio, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Alaska and Hawaii are also excluded from this coverage option.

KARE offers a wide-range of professional services for cost-effective risk management. These include, but are not limited to, on-site surveys, safety consultations, model training programs, incident investigations, safety workshops, and an extensive safety video training library.

bulletDoes KARE recognize an Agent of Record?

Yes, however, KARE reserves the right to determine the recognized producer in any dispute between producers, and to pay producer commissions accordingly. Controlling agents who do not present a KARE quotation to a prospective insured may not be recognized in any dispute. Your KARE underwriter will be glad to discuss this issue with you.

bulletWhat about Kentucky Chamber of Commerce membership?

Independent agents do not have to join the Kentucky Chamber to market the KARE program. However, you still may want to consider a membership because there are other benefit programs in which your agency may have an interest. Prospective KARE insureds, on the other hand, are encouraged to join the Kentucky Chamber, which is the endorsing association for the KARE program.
